How to map a year’s worth of content in an hour

What should I blog about?

A lot of us are held back from publishing blogs because we don’t know where to start. If you’re marketing a business, blogging can become a monthly headache. What do I write about? Will they even care?

Stop panicking. You don’t know what to write for a good reason.  Good blog concepts don’t appear magically out of thin air. You just haven’t planned it out yet, so now’s the time to start thinking strategically.

how to map your content

  1. Picture your customer

A good way of putting yourself in your prospect’s shoes is ’empathy mapping.’ Literally, what do they think, see, feel and do on a daily basis? You can use this as a framework to think about your customer’s pain points, and what they’d like help with. Download an empathy map here.

2. Audit your current offering

What blogs have you already written? There’s no point repeating yourself. Copy all your existing blog titles into a spreadsheet. Your map should aim to address any gaps.

3. Combine your customer’s pains with your services

The simple key step to great content mapping is by linking your customer’s problems to the solutions you offer. Or, conversely, your customer’s dreams with the services you offer. You can then spread out the services targeted across a range of months, all addressing a specific customer pain point.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? That’s because it is. Get in touch if you’d like some more tips for maximising your businesses digital footprint today.
